Description
The example in figure 5 in the VVC (04/2022) specification seems to show a different number of slices compared to the corresponding figure text descriptions, i.e. 12 slices instead of 9.
A suggestion is to modify figure 5 for the next version of VVC to make the center horizontal line thin instead of thick.
An alternative solution would be to replace figures 4, 5 and 6 in the VVC specification with the corresponding figures in "The High-Level Syntax of the Versatile Video Coding (VVC) Standard" IEEE paper (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9395142) if the authors of that paper (Ye-Kui Wang et al.) would be ok with that.

No objection. I integrated the replacement of Figures 4, 5, and 6 into JVET-AD2005-v1 (not yet finalized/uploaded, but should be soon).
Good catch! Indeed the figures in the paper are better. Unless there is objection, for VVC version 3, I am going to take Martin's and replace figures 4, 5 and 6 in the VVC specification with the corresponding figures in paper "The High-Level Syntax of the Versatile Video Coding (VVC) Standard".
